Somfy’s DISC (Dynamic Insulation Strategies and Comparison) tool is a simulation tool that allows building professionals to assess the performance of solar shading on their designs. Developed with Lund University in Sweden, the software uses the Parasol engine. Users input building and facade details while DISC contains a library of metrological data, glazing types and fabrics along with internal and external solar shading and control solutions.
DISC allows designers to run a fast simulation on a variety of solutions. The results from the DISC simulation can then be used to define the solar shading package and control solution for use in a full building performance simulation.
