WoodWall: A flexible and responsible timber veneer

Elton Group’s WoodWall is a game-changing product that leads the industry in the manufacturing and application of real timber for interior environments.

Sliced from high-quality timber logs, WoodWall is made by a unique patented production process that involves hand-joining sliced timber sheets and laying them over a stabilizing backing, including a layer of metal foil that provides the Group 1 fire rating.

Supplied pre-finished with a satin polish and a total thickness of just 0.5 mm, WoodWall can be directly applied to prepared walls, ceilings, bulkheads, and column surfaces – just like a wallpaper and without the need for supporting framing, substrates or split battens.

Available in an extensive selection of natural timbers and timber patterns, WoodWall pre-finished timber veneer is suitable for a broad range of interior settings and architectural styles.

This flexible timber veneer can be applied to plasterboard and other prepared substrates, including MDF – with sheets supplied in rolls for convenience and ease of installation. With low-fuss installation requirements, WoodWall can be delivered to site and installed by a single person – creating minimal site disturbance.

Each WoodWall sheet is sequentially numbered, enabling application in the order in which the timber veneer was sliced from the tree, to retain natural grains and patterning in continuous, matched runs without the need for shadow line details or edging.

Flexible, with the ability to follow tight curves and fold around a 1 mm radius, WoodWall is perfectly suited to organic forms and doors – enabling the crafting of perfect joints and seamlessly finished corners not possible with other forms of timber veneer.

Leading architectural practice Hassell recently specified WoodWall timber veneer in Birch Crown for its natural blonde appearance, creating a fresh and contemporary look for the offices of Zurich in Sydney. Hassell’s design features softly curved walls, seamlessly clad in WoodWall timber veneer, that break up the large open-plan space and add a level of sophisticated tactility.

Swiss insurance company Zurich wanted to create a more sustainable andpremium office space. With the finished space achieving a Five-Star Green Star Interiors rating, a key focal point of Hassell’s design is WoodWall timber veneer.

Responsibly sourced and with its thin construction using 43 times fewer trees than regular timber panelling, WoodWall offers a sustainable way to specify timber. Elton Group is committed to supplying timber veneers and panels in accordance with advanced environmental standards for forests, waters and raw materials.

WoodWall meets Australian Standards and is the only timber veneer surface to achieve a Group 1 fire rating, making it ideal for commercial applications.
