Sky Glass allows glass balustrades to be designed without a handrail through the use of an innovative toughened laminated glass solution.
The 2006 revision of AS 1288 deemed glass balustrades without load-bearing handrails illegal in applications protecting a fall of greater than one metre due to the risk of falling if the panel shattered. Sky Glass uses a special structural interlayer that keeps the glass panel rigid and in place, even after shattering, thereby avoiding the need for an unsightly handrail.
Sky Glass is suitable for all residential and commercial applications and can be designed to any length, height or fixing method. All installations are custom engineered and supplied with an engineer’s letter of compliance to AS 1288 and the Building Code.
