The compact Smeg steam oven is a mere 45 cm high and features a sleek, frameless plane of finger-print-resistant stainless steel and glass with backlit polycarbonate controls. The Smeg SC45V2 has six operating functions – manual steam cooking, meat steaming, fish steaming, vegetable steaming, reheating and/or sterilizing mode and defrost. It also has preset recipes (times and duration) for meat, vegetables and fish.

Delicate dishes like Shanghai dumplings, risotto, steamed shellfish and steamed puddings can be produced with minimum effort. The steam oven can even be used to scramble and boil eggs.

An Eco program enables the 35-litre-capacity appliance to reduce its total electricity consumption from 3.40 kW to just 2 kW while maintaining a consistent steaming temperature of 100ºC.
