The Icon apartment complex in Melbourne’s St Kilda was conceptualized as a random stack of colourful Lego blocks to create a vibrant new landmark for the area. Architectural firm Jackson Clements Burrows led the design team, with artist Matthew Johnson consulting on the final exterior finish and colours.
The “Lego tower” is clad in brightly coloured expanded metal mesh. Locker Group produced the expanded metal in its Dandenong manufacturing facility, working closely with Pace Development Group to deliver panels in varying hues within the build schedule. locker.com.au
