Architect David Hood chose Kingspan Aquasafe for the Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre.

Aquasafe insulated panels

The high humidity and corrosive chlorine environment around indoor swimming pools and aquatic centres means steel panels historically have not been specified for this kind of application.

Architect David Hood chose the Kingspan Aquasafe insulated panel for the Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre in Murwillumbah because of its Aquasafe coating, a specially developed 200 mm plastisol layer that is used on the internal liner. The combination of the non-corrosive Aquasafe surface with the closed-cell, rigid PIR insulation core and purpose-engineered panel joints results in an impermeable barrier.

David Hood says, “Kingspan insulated panels are a prefinished product. They are quick to install, have good insulation properties (to aid in compliance with building regulations), and, with the secret fix installation, provide clean lines, which adds to the overall aesthetic effect. The Aquasafe liner provides a protective internal skin that will resist attack from the internal pool environment.”
