Designex - Sydney April 2010 - Bringing design to life

Celebrating the living, multifaceted world of design, Designex is now in its 22nd year. As before, this annual three-day event is expected to inspire professionals from the commercial and residential interior architecture and design industries with the latest products.

Designex 2010 will be held in Sydney, where more than 300 interior design and architecture exhibitors will showcase their newest developments.

“Each year, through a massive collective effort from the design community, Designex reveals the hottest directions that will change the landscape for designers, specifiers, architects, retail buyers for furniture and homewares, landscapers and interior designers and decorators,” says Danielle Fischer from Diversified Exhibitions, which now stages the event.

Features locked in for 2010 include the ever-popular Outdoor Room with Jamie Durie, presenting the latest trends for outdoor spaces; and D4S, an interactive showcase of new thinking and innovation in sustainable design.

In addition, Kaleidoscope returns for its second year, after its successful launch in 2009. This textiles and soft furnishings feature pays tribute to the transformative effect each has on the mood of interior spaces with a series of smaller installations sitting side-by-side.

Embracing the tactile nature of soft furnishings, Kaleidoscope creates an interactive experience where visitors can discover the latest themes in textile design.

“The concept of a plethora of smaller showcases allows for more diversity, with up-and-coming textile houses showing their finest alongside more established movers and shakers. Expect to see opulent draping of silks and velvets next to vivid screen-printed wallpapers and stacked cushions and fabrics,” says Fischer.

“Designex is the number one destination for design people and products that matter – from the ambitious and enterprising to the kooky and clever,” says Fischer. “Don’t miss this once-a-year event designed to breathe life into the industry.”

Designex will be co-located with Form & Function, Australia’s premier building, architectural and construction trade exhibition, the Australian Institute of Architects 2010 National Conference and the 2010 Interior Design Awards.
