designEX 2011

After 23 years as the most innovative design event in Australia, designEX emerges as even more relevant and inspiring. “In its 23rd year, designEX visitors will discover a revitalized exhibition, inspiring commercial and residential interior designers and architects,” says Danielle Fischer from Diversified Exhibitions, the company behind the event.

“This year designEX will no longer be open on Saturday and will no longer coincide with Form & Function,” says Fischer. More changes include new dates, new features and a dynamic international seminar series.

Major elements of the 2011 program include the designEX Keynote Series, a series of seminars presented by local and international experts from Asia, Europe and the USA. Speakers include Colin Seah, principal of the multi-award-winning firm MOD in Singapore, the infamous Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas direct from Rome, and Kevin Schopfer, founding member of Ahearn, Schopfer and Associates which has consistently ranked in the top 50 design firms in the United States.

Two new live programs will also give unprecedented access to architects and designers. The Live Profiling series will allow visitors to see behind some of Australia’s most notable projects and hear about the challenges of completing these renowned works, and Architectural Radar is an interactive architectural experience highlighting the latest technologies and practices in the industry, featuring insider secrets of some of the most coveted and awarded projects from around the globe from conception to construction. As part of this, one of the most anticipated event experiences will be the Inner Street Gallery, a 3D journey sponsored by Autodesk, providing a visual perspective on architectural innovations right now.

Also look out for the Mystery Box Challenge, sponsored by Hettich, where new designers will be challenged to create a bathroom product in just three days using one of ten mystery materials. As usual, Décor, the soft furnishings, textiles and decorative accessories feature, will be as popular as ever, where daily workshops will be presented in a collaboration between designEX, Eussen Consulting and Boston Publishing. And the always anticipated designEX New Product Awards are guaranteed to once more unearth some of the most innovative new products to the market.
