Kaynemaile collaborated with architecture firm ThomsonAdsett to realize the facade screen concept as part of the $50 million upgrade to Aspley Hypermarket shopping centre in Queensland. Stretched over a geometric steel frame, the facade highlights the unique properties of Kaynemaile-Armour, providing a solid yet translucent fabric-like screen.
The shadow play on the silver-coloured screen changes dramatically from day to night, creating a dynamic architectural feature. The redevelopment of the Northern Bakeries/Tip Top bakery site in Melbourne’s Brunswick East pays homage to its historic importance. Locker Group worked with Sue Hodges Productions and architecture firm Rothelowman to reproduce original images of horse-drawn delivery carriages and baking facilities.

“Doric’s DS1297 Lift to Lock multi-point mortice lock is designed for aluminium hinged door applications.
The lever is lifted upward to throw the side projection bolt and the vertical locking rods. Additional functionality can be added to the lockset by the fitting of Doric Furniture with snib, which then provides a “day latching function” – the ability to secure the lock from outside, without key locking, therefore providing safety when the building is occupied.

Toughened glass from Bent and Curved Glass was used for a unique swimming pool designed by Molnar Freeman Architects as a key feature in the expansion of a hotel on the south coast of NSW. The cantilevered pool end that floats above the entry to Bannisters Pavilion in Mollymook Beach provides a memorable experience for hotel guests. Frameless glass panels reveal the movement and sparkle of the water, catching the eye.
Bent and Curved Glass (BCG) worked closely with the architects, the engineer (Wirrawonga Consulting) and the installation contractor (Ozea Group) to determine the feasibility of the desired glazing solution. BCG bent four layers of 12 mm toughened glass as a matched set, to the dimensional tolerances required for successful lamination. The largest panel weighs 519 kg. bentglass.com.au

When Mazda built its distribution centre at Brisbane Airport, it had particular conservation requirements for rainwater harvesting for use in toilets, irrigation and vehicle wash-down for up to 100 vehicles a day.
Kingspan Water manufactured and installed 14 large-capacity, made-to-measure tanks to create a total water capacity of 118,860 litres. Rainwater is harvested from various catchment areas and the vehicle wash-down station captures, treats and reuses water over a number of cycles, only being supplemented with rainwater, as required. Adelaide patisserie Abbots and Kinney features Intergrain UltraClear finish on its timber surfaces. Designed by Studio-Gram, the interior is split in half diagonally: one side features bespoke timber framing, the other is flushed and painted black.
Timber is a key element of the project, and all the timber throughout the patisserie was finished with Intergrain UltraClear. “We used Intergrain UltraClear Interior due to its clarity and durability,” says project architect Dave Bickmore. Sitting on a rocky cliff overlooking Western Australia’s Swan Valley wine region, this home office presented a challenging build. With this in mind, the home owners took full advantage of the benefits and versatility of Cemintel’s prefinished building material, Urban Grey.
Part of the client’s brief required a low-maintenance, high-end finish that blended into a very raw, natural environment, with a contemporary edge that capitalized on the spectacular views of Swan Valley and Perth.
The site was challenging, with one corner sitting on a rocky outcrop and the other end perched 12 metres off the ground. Getting materials and trades there was going to be difficult. However, with Urban Grey, the large-format, lightweight panels arrived and were easily and quickly installed with the unique Designer Series clip-fixing system.
Urban Grey was also used internally in this project as a feature wall. Combined with the timber flooring and cabinetry, it provides a striking and sophisticated finish that enhances the beautiful views from the oversized window. cemintel.com.au
