Markilux sun control protects this apartment on Newcastle Harbour from the sun and prevailing winds.

Lee Wharf development uses Markilux sun control

Newcastle Harbour’s luxury apartment development Lee Wharf required a sun control system that would not only withstand higher wind loads and protect against the strength of west-facing sun but also complement the high-end design of the apartments. Designers of the six-floor building, architects Crone Partners and builders Richard Crookes Construction, specified the Markilux 760 straight drop tensioning screen.

The Markilux 760 features kevlar and elasticized side tensioning belts to give optimum strength, tension and smooth operation, while the Swela Transilk FR sunscreen provides maximum UV and shade protection without disturbing the view. Each of the 120 straight drops is motorized, with Somfy remote-control operation in each apartment. The entire system is automated by two master wind sensors, guaranteeing day-in, day-out performance.
