ECOply® is manufactured at the “world-class” Myrtleford plywood mill.

Plywood from Carter Holt Harvey

Sustainably produced Carter Holt Harvey plywood just became a more sustainable product for the future. The increasingly popular ECOply®, FORMrite® and PLYfloor® are locally produced at the upgraded plywood mill in Myrtleford, Victoria. This increased, more efficient and sustainable production reduces the demand for off-shore supply.

Produced using timber from sustainably managed forests and low-emission glues, Carter Holt Harvey plywood is also available FSC-certified.

The mill will be “purely ply” and the biggest plywood producer in Australia, featuring state-of-the-art equipment that is far more efficient than previous processes, such as the introduction of a high-speed lathe that can “peel” one log every nine seconds. And new automated processes enhance safety and product consistency. Environmental improvements at the mill include less emissions, lower water use, better air quality and even noise reduction. This is sustainable and truly cutting edge technology.

Timber has long been central to the town of Myrtleford. With some locals working in the old sawmill since the ‘70s, a healthy timber industry has been important. The transformation of the existing mill into a “world-class” plywood mill also guarantees the sustainability of the town.
