Lightweight expanded clay balls, manufactured for use as structural insulation under concrete slab-on-ground construction or behind retaining walls; as lightweight fill in green roof construction or as high-performance aggregate in lightweight concrete. The jury commented, “This is a great product with a number of building uses. It has the potential to improve the performance of an existing standard building system. We also like the fact that this product is low-tech and a non-polystyrene-based insulator for a concrete slab.”
