Screening systems by Hi-Light Industries

The Craigieburn Train Maintenance Facility is located at the Craigieburn Stabling Yard approximately 30 kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD. Constructed by John Holland under a design and construct contract for the Department of Transport, this $65 million facility is one of the largest and most modern train maintenance facilities in Australia, incorporating train maintenance facilities, overnight storage facilities, substations, an amenities building and a carpark.

Hi-Light Industries was selected to manufacture and install the facility’s aluminium grating system around the perimeter of the building. Simple but highly effective, the HA403 aluminium grating system supplied and installed by Hi-Light Industries creates a light and transparent appearance to the edge of the robust structure and beyond. The aesthetically unique system complements the curved roofing structure, providing highly effective sun control.

The concept presented some unique design, manufacture and installation issues and, never one to shy from a challenge, Hi-Light Industries used state-of-the-art 3D design software to ensure unprecedented consistency and accuracy from the multitude of individual compound curved panels. For nearly 30 years Hi-Light Industries has been a leading innovator and manufacturer of quality architectural aluminium extruded sunscreen products. All products are custom designed and manufactured in Australia from local materials. Thousands of successfully completed projects for leading architects and builders in Australia and around the world are testimony to the comprehensive testing, care and research performed on Hi-Light products.

Hi-Light provides professional assistance throughout the industry and now, as a part of the Valmont/Webforge Group of companies, it has offices throughout Australia and South East Asia.
