When it came to creating an efficient sun-shade solution for the Woolloomooloo wharf in Sydney, Helioscreen and Dickson Orchestra Max were chosen. The brief from the wharf management was to come up with a strong sun-shade solution that not only reduced heat and glare but was also easy to operate.
Helioscreen proposed an automated articulated arm awning system that was controlled by time clocks as well as by wind and motion-control senses, to give unparalleled protection from the sun as well as from adverse conditions that may damage the awnings.
Twenty-five Helioshade motorized awning arms were installed using Dickson Orchestra Max fabric. The Orchestra Max fabric was ideal because of its self-cleaning properties. The Orchestra Max fabric is covered with a special treatment called Permaclean that makes the water bead up on the fabric and roll right off the surface, taking the dirt along with it. A quick spray of water is all it takes to keep the fabric looking clean and new.
