Amp: A powerful home audio hub by Sonos

Sonos has realized its vision of creating brilliant sound in the home, making playing any song in any room easy. The Sonos Amp is a powerful and versatile home audio amplifier that powers traditional wired speakers with sound from almost any source, fully integrating these speakers into Sonos’s easy-to-use home sound system.

Twice as powerful as its predecessor, Connect Amp, and with 125 watts per channel, Sonos Amp is a must-have for music lovers wanting to power their home audio, even in the most demanding set-ups. Supporting Apple’s AirPlay 2 and more than 100 streaming services, including Spotify and Apple Music, it also has an HDMI Arc port for TVs.

Sonos Amp can also convert classic freestanding or bookshelf speakers to stream music, or integrate a record player into the set-up so users can enjoy listening to their vinyl collections throughout the home. Once connected, the benefits of the Sonos App are unlocked, allowing the user to choose what plays in each room, or to group rooms to play their favourite sounds everywhere.

With a shared commitment to delivering superior sound, Sonos and Sonance have collaborated on a range of “built-in” speakers designed to “disappear” into any space while providing clear sound, even coverage and high-quality performance when wired to Sonos Amp. The Sonos Architectural range includes three different styles of in-wall, in ceiling and outdoor speakers, all of which can be controlled through the Sonos App.

When paired with Sonos Amp, the in-ceiling and in-wall speakers’ unique hardware signature unlocks Sonos’s Trueplay tuning technology, which accounts for the size, construction, and furnishings of the room where the speakers are placed, and automatically adjusts the EQ for optimal sound. The speaker grilles can also be painted to match the wall colour.

The outdoor speaker is the first Sonos speaker designed for use outside. Featuring a weatherproof design, it is engineered to withstand a wide variety of environmental conditions, allowing users to enjoy audio content year-round from anywhere in the home, whether inside or out.

“Our goal was to bring the Sonos experience to architectural speakers for the first time,” said Sonos CEO Patrick Spence. “Sonance was the natural partner, sharing our passion for high quality, reliable sound solutions inside and outside the home.” sonos.com
