Australian Interior Design Awards 2020 winners

The winners of the 2020 Australian Interior Design Awards were announced on Friday 29 May across seven primary categories along with the Best of State Awards for Commercial Design and Residential Design, the Emerging Interior Design Practice Award, and the awards for Sustainability Advancement, Best International Design and Interior Design Impact. The Premier Award – the top prize from the prestigious Australian Interior Design Awards – went to restaurant Di Stasio Citta by Hassell. The jury agreed that Di Stasio Citta was the clear winner, writing that the art-filled restaurant “feels fresh, genuinely creative and is highly appropriate in terms of the theatricality of the dining experience.”

Hassell’s design for Di Stasio Citta received praise for “its brave and bold approach,” which “also delivers a sense of intimacy despite the dynamism of the dining area, which results in a very personalized experience for patrons.”

Delivered through a partnership between the Design Institute of Australia and Architecture Media’s Artichoke magazine, the Australian Interior Design Awards is Australia’s most distinguished awards program for the sector.
