At the University of Auckland in New Zealand, Building-Armour by Kaynemaile was recently installed as a screen to protect against rain and wind, and as fall protection. The architectural mesh was used to make two seamless skins, an exterior and interior, each covering an area of approximately 300 m2, which wrap around a 90-degree corner, through a seismic gap between buildings and around a penetrating gangway.
The double skins create an increased visual density that diffuses the background, with an added bonus of creating a subtle moiré effect when the wind blows. The use of Building-Armour by Kaynemaile has created an impressive ambience while maintaining excellent airflow.
