Spanning commercial and residential interior architecture and design, Designex celebrates the passion and ingenuity of the Australian design industry. The central theme for 2009 is “Designex – it’s a religion.”
This year, Designex has attracted more than 35 speakers on over 20 different subjects for its international seminar series. Esteemed speakers include Michael McCann (Dreamtime Australia Design), Greg Gong (Denton Corker Marshall), Fiona Winzar (Fiona Winzar Architects) and leading futurist Richard Watson. Diverse topics will be explored including Jamie Durie’s Extreme Scaping, on the greening of our urban environment, and the interpretation of 2009/10 trends by four media industry figureheads.
“Capturing the zeal of design professionals across the Southern Hemisphere for 21 years, Designex has built a loyal following of those acutely interested in design innovation,” said Edward Owens of DMG World Media, which stages the event.
More than 300 design companies are expected to showcase their creativity at Designex, attracting a diverse audience of specifiers, retail buyers for furniture and homewares, property managers, developers, landscapers, interior designers and decorators. Running at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 30 April to 2 May 2009, Designex is co-located with Form and Function, focused on building, architecture and construction.
