Waterproofing at The Rocks YHA

The new Youth Hostels of Australia facility opened its doors recently, overlooking Sydney Harbour and incorporating views over the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Architect Alexander Tzannes Associates designed the new building with a roof deck area, which overlooks the harbour and is designed to be used by guests for relaxing and entertainment. Obviously the waterproofing of this area was critical, as it is over the hostel’s rooms.

The Wolfin waterproofing system was specified because of its proven track record in similar critical areas. The Wolfin GWSK membrane was terminated using Wolfin’s stainless steel profile system rather than the usual Wolfin galvanized steel, because of the building’s proximity to salt water.

The Wolfin installation was carried out by an experienced licensed Wolfin applicator, GRG Waterproofing, so that Wolfin was able to issue a combined single-point labour and materials warranty on the waterproofing.
