Designed to an open brief by Michael McCann of Dreamtime Australia Design company, Concrete Blonde, one of Sydney’s newest and hippest bar and restaurants, is attracting interest for its inspirational decor.
To warm the atmosphere of the site, the team chose timber for the flooring but, instead of opting for a solid board, they chose top-quality engineered boards from timber flooring company Havwoods.
Venture Plank is a 20 mm board with a 6 mm wear layer of European Oak and a hardwood ply backing. This ensures superior stability, even given Australia’s sometimes extreme climate, whilst still providing a wear layer equivalent to that of many solid boards.
Furthermore, the planks themselves are exceptionally well machined and are both longer and wider than the norm, making for a more imposing floor. The Venture Plank range includes unfinished, lacquered and oiled boards in rustic and character grades in a variety of shades, from white oiled to richly smoked.
