Architec Honed blocks used in T&G building

The redesign of central Melbourne’s 1920s T&G building by Bates Smart called for a solid material to ground and anchor the space, creating a human scale while maintaining the overall lightness of the building. The architects selected Austral Masonry’s Architec Honed blocks in alabaster, a product that embodies the subtle beauty of masonry.

The sleek finish of the blocks contrasts with the bold texture of the GB Veneer Split Face blocks in limestone seen in the walls. Together, the blocks contribute to a radical upgrade that has delivered a premium retail and workspace contained within the existing built fabric. gbmasonry.com.au
