Australian Interior Design Awards entries closing

The Australian Interior Design Awards, running for the 19th year in 2022, recognize and celebrate interior design excellence via a credible, industry-based program backed by the Design Institute of Australia.

This year the shortlist will be announced online on 30 March, and the awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Friday 17 June at Sydney’s Hyatt Regency.

There are seven Primary Categories, and projects can be entered into more than one: Retail Design, Hospitality Design, Workplace Design, Public Design, Installation Design, Residential Design and Residential Decoration.

There are also two Optional Categories: Emerging Interior Design Practice and Award for Sustainability Advancement.

Consideration for Best of State Awards (Residential and Commercial), Best International Design Award and the overall Premier Award for Australian Interior Design is automatic.

The Australian Interior Design Awards is the only interior design awards program in Australia that is completely peer judged. Jurors are eminent designers, with a convenor appointed by the Design Institute of Australia. The judging process is anonymous, transparent and confidential.

The jury for the 2022 Australian Interior Design Awards comprises Madeleine Blanchfield, director of Madeleine Blanchfield Architects; Caroline Diesner, principal and board director of Hassell; Stuart Krelle, director of Luchetti Krelle; Albert Mo, director of Architects EAT; Rosie Morley, principal of Fender Katsalidis; Jade Nottage, director of Tom Mark Henry; Beatrix Rowe, principal of Beatrix Rowe Interior Design; and Peter Walker, director of Cumulus Studio.

Geraldine Maher, director of Maher Design, will return as jury chair and John Gertsakis, director of Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence, will serve again as sustainability advisor.

Presented by the Design Institute of Australia and Artichoke magazine, the 2022 Australian Interior Design Awards are generously supported by Dulux, Space, Sub-Zero Wolf, Laminex and Interiors Australia. australianinteriordesignawards.com
