2017 Houses Awards shortlist revealed

The 2017 Houses Awards shortlist has been announced and tickets will be on sale in June for the gala presentation party, to be held on 4 August in Melbourne. The Houses Awards celebrates Australia’s best residential projects in nine categories. Now in its seventh year, the program has become one of the country’s most sought-after accolades. In 2017, a total of 169 projects and seven emerging practices have been shortlisted.

“The shortlisted projects reflect the ways Australian architects respond to diverse contexts and constraints, from tight urban sites to apartment fitouts and stand-alone pavilions in the landscape,” said Katelin Butler, Houses magazine editor and Houses Awards jury chair.

The awards will be presented at NGV International in Melbourne on Friday 4 August, following the 2017 Housing Futures symposium. Each category offers a cash prize of $1,000. The awards will culminate in the announcement of Australian House of the Year, the winner of which takes home $5,000.

The Houses Awards program is presented by Architecture Media and supported by Cult, Artedomus, Artemide, Asko, Blum, Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia, Haymes Paint, the Heritage Councils of Victoria and New South Wales, Maximum and Think Brick.
