The Red Book by CSR Gyprock

The new Red Book design guide from CSR Gyprock: An essential resource for fire, acoustic and thermal information for wall and ceiling systems.

The CSR Gyprock Red Book is one of the industry’s most recognized and respected technical publications. Developed to support architects, engineers and design professionals in their day-to-day work, it offers fire, acoustic and thermal information and guidance across hundreds of wall and ceiling systems.

First published in 1999, the Red Book continues CSR Gyprock’s commitment to providing comprehensive design information and complete system solutions. Celebrating 21 years, the 2020 Red Book edition has been revised and updated in consultation with key professionals to offer innovative and advanced industry information.

The Red Book fire, acoustic and thermal design guide showcases the performance of CSR Gyprock’s extensive range of building systems. Together with the associated Red Book installation manuals, this comprehensive guide forms a suite of essential reference documents for the building industry.

To remain at the forefront of industry standards and innovation, the Red Book has significantly grown with the addition of new systems, sections and details. As a result of this ongoing expansion, the 2020 Red Book has been extended to three books to enhance navigation, functionality and efficiency.

Book One, which is dedicated to complete system solutions for walls, ceilings and facades for all building classes, provides fire, acoustic and thermal information on hundreds of wall and ceiling systems and includes products from the CSR companies Gyprock, Cemintel, Himmel, Bradford, AFS and Hebel.

Book Two provides in-depth installation details for Gyprock plasterboards fixed to walls and ceilings of timber, steel and masonry construction in residential buildings. Applications covered in this book include internal wet areas, protected external ceilings and eaves, curved surfaces, bushfire solutions, and fire-rated boundary walls.

Book Three provides comprehensive installation details for Gyprock plasterboard in commercial-style construction. The details focus on slab-to-slab steel-framed construction, a method that is common in offices, warehouses, schools, hospitals, and medium- to high-rise residential constructions. Applications for this information include wall, ceiling, column, beam and wet area linings that may be required to achieve fire and acoustic ratings.

Gyprock is a part of CSR, one of Australia’s oldest and most trusted pioneering public companies. The DesignLINK team can also offer technical support for architects and designers, as well as installation guidance for builders and contractors.
