Outdoor decking that is stronger than steel, lighter than aluminium, looks great and is made in Western Australia has been launched by Western Australian firm ABBIX Industries.
Diamond deck™ is made from a unique, super-strength fibre reinforcement allowing it to span a massive 900 mm between joists, compared to 400–450 mm for traditional wood and composite decks. It is maintenance free, so never needs to be oiled or painted, is UV stable, and spills of fats and oils from barbecues can be wiped clean with detergent and water.
Unlike traditional timber decking, Diamond deck™ is 100% waterproof so it can be installed at ground level on soil, sand, concrete or brick. Due to Diamond deck™’s capability to span 900 mm, savings as much as 50% can be achieved on building the deck substructure, in comparison to traditional timber and composite decking.
ABBIX recently entered into a distribution agreement with M&B Sales, a supplier of quality building products in Western Australia, to supply and install Diamond deck™ across the state. “Diamond deck™ does not absorb water, so it can be used as pool decking with no swelling or warping,” ABBIX chairman Fraser Tonner said.
