Eat Drink Design Awards shortlist announced

Revealed on 27 August, the 2020 Eat Drink Design Awards shortlist includes hospitality venues across seven categories: Best Restaurant Design, Best Cafe Design, Best Bar Design, Best Hotel Design, Best Installation Design, Best Retail Design and Best Identity Design. In recognition of the cultural significance that venues can hold, one long-standing venue will be inducted into the Eat Drink Design Awards Hall of Fame.

Cassie Hansen, Eat Drink Design Awards jury chair and editor of Artichoke, was joined on the jury by Frank Camorra (restaurateur, Movida), Gemima Cody (restaurant critic and food writer, Good Food), Iva Foschia (founder, IF Architecture) and Jonathan Richards (co-founder, Richards Stanisich). Hansen explained that a notable design story that prevailed in this year’s shortlist was a sense of comfort and nostalgia. “This year’s designers have one foot in the past whilst firmly looking towards the future,” she said.

The winners will be announced Wednesday 18 November; to view the entire 2020 shortlist, visit eat-drink-design.com.
